Welcome to the
University of Birmingham Polo Club
The University of Birmingham Polo Club is a sociable and successful club and we encourage anyone studying at the university, whether a seasoned pro or a complete non-rider to get involved and relish in
this phenomenal sport.
The club was founded in 2008 and from its humble beginnings it has grown into one of the largest and most competitive university clubs in the country. Indeed what was once a small club with no more than 10 playing members has rapidly expanded with membership totalling nigh on 50, with the majority of those playing regularly.
U.B.P.C plays at Rugby Polo Club, just a 40 minute drive from the university, and receives expert tuition from 3 goaler Phillip Baker and former New Zealand international Glynn Henderson. Rugby Polo Club boasts the largest indoor arena in the country and is acknowledged as having one of the best arena seasons in the country, and so it is the perfect club to base ourselves at. Moreover, three other universities currently play at Rugby enabling us to play more regularly against other universities and assert Birmingham´s rightful dominance.
The two main highlights of the university polo calendar are the SUPA National Arena Championships in February and the SUPA National Championships played in June. The club´s performance has improved year on year and this year our Beginner Two team won the B2 Division at the Arena Nationals (click here to find out more).
Over the years the club has brought enormous joy to a great many students and if you would like to know more, please continue to explore the website, find us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @BrumPolo.
